How to Replace a Damaged Vinyl Flooring Plank (Winchester Vinloc)

A quick, DIY way to swap a single plank, no full tear-out needed.

Accidents happen. A dropped tool or a moving day mishap can mark a plank. Good news: with the Winchester Vinloc interlocking system, you can replace a single plank fast and clean, no need to pull up the whole floor.

This guide applies to Winchester Flooring collections featuring the Vinloc system, available exclusively at Windsor Plywood.

What You’ll Need

  • Replacement Winchester plank (matching style/colour)
  • Utility knife or oscillating multi-tool
  • Straightedge and pencil
  • Safety glasses and cut-resistant gloves
  • Shop vac / cloth for dust
  • Adhesive (only if your install calls for it)

Step-by-Step: Vinloc Plank Replacement

  1. Score the damaged plank. Lightly outline your cut. Keep clear of surrounding planks.
  2. Cut and remove. Use a utility knife or oscillating tool to free the damaged piece. Lift out in sections.
  3. Clean the pocket. Vacuum dust and check the locking edges for debris.
  4. Prep the new plank. Dry-fit first. Trim the tongue edge only if required by your method.
  5. Angle and lock. Insert the new plank into the Vinloc profile. Press down to lock flush.
  6. Final check. Run a straightedge across the seams. Wipe clean and you’re done.

Tip: Work slowly and protect nearby boards with a thin scrap as a shield when cutting.
