Windsor Plywood carries Ecopoxy resin systems including FlowCast casting epoxy, UVPoxy tabletop coating, and related products. Ecopoxy is a Canadian brand known for bio-based epoxy formulations that use plant-derived components to partially replace petroleum-based ingredients, resulting in a lower environmental impact without compromising performance.
Ecopoxy uses a proprietary bio-based formulation that incorporates plant-derived components, reducing the petroleum content compared to conventional epoxy. The result is a high-quality resin with UV resistance, clarity, and workability comparable to premium conventional epoxies, with a reduced environmental footprint. Ecopoxy is certified to low VOC standards.
Ecopoxy UVPoxy tabletop coating is specifically formulated for UV resistance to prevent yellowing from sunlight exposure. FlowCast casting resin has less UV resistance and will yellow over time if exposed to direct sunlight without a UV-stable topcoat. For river tables and live edge applications near windows, a UV-stable topcoat over the cured FlowCast is recommended.
Ecopoxy FlowCast is designed for deep pours up to approximately 2 inches (50mm) per layer. For voids deeper than this, pour in multiple layers allowing full cure between pours to avoid the exothermic heat buildup that causes cracking and yellowing in excessively thick single pours.
Once fully cured, Ecopoxy products are considered food-safe for incidental contact in accordance with FDA standards for food-contact surfaces. Full cure typically takes 7 days at room temperature. Do not use a surface finished with epoxy for direct food cutting, as scored surfaces are difficult to sanitize.
