Windsor Plywood carries interior and exterior doors in a wide range of styles including panel doors, flush doors, glass-lite doors, French doors, bifold doors, and specialty configurations. Brands include Masonite, Jeld-Wen, ThermaTrue, and Trimlite. Both slab doors and pre-hung units are available depending on the application.
A slab door is the door panel only with no frame, hinges, or hardware included. It is used when the existing door frame is in good condition and you are only replacing the door itself. A pre-hung door is mounted in its own frame with hinges attached, ready for installation into a rough opening. New construction and situations where the existing frame is damaged require a pre-hung unit.
For a slab replacement, measure the existing door height, width, and thickness. For a pre-hung replacement, measure the rough opening width and height. Standard interior door sizes are 80 inches tall in widths from 24 to 36 inches. Confirm whether you need a left-hand or right-hand swing by standing in the door opening from the outside and noting which side the hinges are on.
Hollow core doors have a lightweight cardboard honeycomb interior between two face skins. They are affordable and light but provide minimal sound blocking. Solid core doors have a dense wood composite interior that significantly improves sound attenuation and gives the door a heavier, more substantial feel. Solid core is worth the upgrade for bedrooms, home offices, and bathrooms.
Yes. Windsor Plywood offers door prehanging as a service, where they hang a slab door in a jamb to your specifications including hinge placement, bore preparation for locksets, and frame assembly. This is a significant time saver for contractors and renovation projects where multiple doors need to be prepared before site installation.
