Peter Moran of Bellingham shared with us his most recent project – a Sapele Coffee Table. He had this to say about the process:
I’ve made plenty of coffee tables, but never worked with Sapele until I came across a board 14 inches wide at my local Windsor Plywood store that I just had to use. The grain has a wavy and iridescent look that I really like. It was easy to work with and not too pricey. Table is mid century style with undercut beveled edge and magazine shelf below. I used Minwax Wipe on Poly, as it’s inexpensive and effective. Everything was sapele I got from Windsor except for legs, which are mahogany from my wood pile.
